Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Better than gas!

Old time construction 8/26/2026

I chose a dealer that allows test cooking in their showroom. I tried this model with a wide range of my cast iron, carbon and stainless steel cookware. The heating speed and responsiveness sold me. The infinite adjustment of power levels is much better than incremental adjustment products. The safety factor, that it can't ignite combustible materials, is so good for children and, frankly, myself as I age and am sometimes forgetful.

We're very happy with our new cooktop!

johnnyi0317 7/18/2026

We wanted to get out of the noxious gas producing range and cooktop and move to induction. I read lots of reviews, specifically negative ones to see if there were problems and found that most negative reviews resulted from inappropriate use and the sometime noise that can come from using too light cookware. The magnet test of your existing cookware seems to ignore whether you have enough iron/steel in your pots and pans - we had a few that had steel, but were mostly aluminum and the cooktop didn't work with them. We also had 1 sauce pan that was too small, width-wise at its base to work. Having said all that, we pulled the trigger on the stainless steel version of this model and are very happy. There is a bit of a learning curve not so much about the controls because those are intuitive, but just how it feels to cook with induction. We mostly cook on top of a stove rather than an oven which only gets used a couple of times a year. It is still amazing to see how fast a pan and its contents get hot and how easy it is to clean up afterwards. We'd owned a Cafe' gas range in our previous house and were favorably inclined toward GE. The installation required running a 50amp circuit to the cooktop, and that cost many hundreds of dollars, but we feel it was worth it.

App is terrible

Larry I 3/7/2026

The app for this appliance is terrible. When the QR code on the appliance is scanned to get the user manual, you need to download the app. That was easy and was able to connect to the stove top. When I went to the support tab and to manuals. It ask for the model number™€¦ for an appliance it is connected to and can control.. it should know this. When the appliance model is typed in exactly as it is on the registration card, it says no such model found. I was able to get the manual of the internet but a very frustrating start.

New model not as good as the old one

gilpic 2/22/2026

We replaced our old Cafe induction cooktop, whose surface was broken, with a new one, and the new one is less satisfying than the old one. the zones are still well positioned and dimensioned, however the heating speed is definitely not as fast, and the controls are a bit finicky to finely tune the heat level.

Terfet 1/10/2026

Nice cooktop but the push button controls are not user friendly. Takes several pushes to engage them. The timer feature is hard to turn off. The sweet spots are tough to find. The timer alert is the same as the double ovens - not near loud enough nor do they repeat in case you can™€™t get there right away. Needs work.

malfunction on new cooktop

RAMP 12/30/2025

We had just moved in & were using the new cooktop when it shut itself off & left an orange/yellow permanent ring under the glass of the burner. We have a service call scheduled to look at it. We had the same cooktop in a previous house & never had a problem & loved it. Induction is amazing & we will see if this current one just needs replaced & we will be satisfied, but concerned it did this right away on a new cooktop.

Would not recommend GE

BJR25 12/26/2025

I bought my GE Cafe because my GE Profile had an issue with 2 burners not working after only 4 years. Of course my warranty had expired. So I upgraded to the Cafe and guess what, 2 burners on this unit also stopped working after 13 days. I tried to look into what was going on with GE induction cooktops and for several years now, people have been having the same problem. Something to do with the Control board. At this point I would like to return this one and move onto another manufacturer.

STAY AWAY!!! - Dysfunctional dangerous cooktop

Owlgirl 12/1/2025

DO NOT BUY this cooktop! I purchased in May 2025. Within 3 weeks- 1st time the large hob was used, the hob overheated and scorched the glass requiring replacement which took 2 visits over a month. GE refused to replace the unit at that time. The unit has been periodically unresponsive with heat control issues. Thanksgiving Eve, the bottom right hob overheated scorched and cracked the glass and cracked my Le Creuset pot, burning the soup in it. So no cooktop for Thanksgiving. Called GE on Friday. They refused to replace but ordered a "safety review" saying a tech would be out Monday. Well its Monday, and I just got a call from a service manager saying there is no tech available to come today. No tech for another week. She refused to acknowledge the safety issues and stated that GE would not replace the unit. The warranty only covers replacement of defective parts during the 12 months after installation. Bottom line- unsafe, unreliable, dysfunctional unit and GE feels fine leaving the customer to bear the burden of their design and manufacturing flaws.

Bougie, fancy

LC8131 11/6/2025

I was very excited to use this product. It is so bougie and beautiful. But, sadly, it is glitchy and unpredictable. I am currently trying to get a replacement to see if I just got a bad cooktop. I hope so! The cooktop is beautiful and the first week, while it was working, the features were awesome. The boiling time for 2 cups of water is under a minute, and you literally need 15 seconds to preheat a pan for pancakes or eggs. It was a great cooktop while it lasted.

Disappointed in failure after 1.5 years.

Amanda2 8/28/2025

I'm very disappointed because our Cafe inductions cooktop is 1.5 years old and it just stopped working. I called multiple appliances services and many do not service induction cooktops. I have an appointment that is over a week away. And I was told I would need to replace a part that costs $500. When I asked why it stopped working, the technician said due to a power surge. But we did not experience a power surge. And even if we did, that should not result in a cooktop no longer working. This does not seem to be a durable technology.

DM2024 8/15/2025

The cooktop usually works as expected. I have one burner that sometimes doesn't want to turn on. I've had it repaired and it still does this. Also, I've experienced some of the burners I've turned on and set to a medium heat, all of a sudden turn to full heat. This has happened a few times. I've also had a few of the burners I turn on, turn off unexpectedly. Not good when you are cooking rice on a timer.

Wi-Fi Feature Set is Disappointing and Underutiliz

SebastianPa 7/22/2025

I™€™m really disappointed that the Wi-Fi functionality on this appliance feels practically useless. What™€™s the point of adding connectivity if you can™€™t do anything meaningful with it? I understand why remote activation of the cooktop might be disabled for safety reasons. But disabling remote turn-off makes no sense. What kind of accident could possibly happen by turning it off? If anything, it could help prevent one. Also, does not having the full Hestan Cue system mean I can™€™t do anything at all? I can™€™t even set up a basic trigger with Alexa to, say, turn on a light when the cooktop is in use? There are many useful and low-risk capabilities that could be enabled without compromising safety, such as: Allowing automations based on cooktop status (e.g. turning on a vent or ambient light when it™€™s in use) Exposing burner activity as a read-only state to platforms like Home Assistant or Alexa Sending alerts if a burner is left on too long Showing usage history or energy consumption in the app Enabling remote turn-off under certain conditions (like when no motion is detected nearby) These types of features would actually make the Wi-Fi useful, while still respecting safety. Hopefully future updates will consider enabling more of this functionality.

Likes and Dislikes

sid1138 6/2/2025

Let's start with the likes. I like the burner placement and I love how well the system cooks. Induction works quickly and efficiently. The surface cleans easily and the low surface temperature of inductance (its temperature is about the same as the pan its heating) eliminates burnt-on food. Next my neutral item - the controls. The capacitive touch controls are finicky. They sometimes don't work if you have things like flour or gloves on your hand. If a pan is touching the control area then that area may not respond to touches or it might respond to the pan. If I wipe the area with a towel or sponge while cooking, the controls will change. I like the control design, I dislike its sensitivity. Also, I would like the control lock to work when cooking, so the setting doesn't change. Finally, my serious dislike I loath the fact that I need to connect my stove to the internet to unlock some features. I have no idea what security the little computer has, but I can see a security risk by having my stove connected to the internet. Also, I don't like the idea that my cooking habits are bouncing around the internet. Maybe if there was a one-time way to download recipes, I could accept that. But to have to log into my stove is ridiculous. Note, I have developed everything from small medical devices to globe-spanning telecom networks and defense systems. I KNOW the security risks of an open internet port and those risks to the rest of my computer infrastructure should not be there because of a stove.

Disappointed

amyss 5/20/2025

Honestly, I wish I loved this cooktop, but after nearly a year of owning/using it, I'm starting to look for another option. The heating controls are NOT sensitive at all. They barely respond when I touch them. When they do finally respond, it automatically makes it either the hottest setting there is or the lowest and I have to manually hit the button a bunch to move it to the correct temp. Disappointed is an understatement!

Avoid it.

Bad Purchase 5/14/2025

Discoloured from the bottom up, not on the surface. This was three months after installation. Warranty was refused saying I used the wrong cookware, which I think is just a standard answer for all complaints about induction. The never asked about my cookware, and my understanding is it won't turn on with the wrong cookware. I'm using cookware that I have used on a previous induction range I owned made by Jenair with no problems. It was black hopwever. They sent me a page from the manual about what kind of cookware to use. It explained nothing about how puting the wrong cookware on it will cause it to discolour.

Love induction™€¦we would never go back to gas

Induction convert 5/12/2025

Two years ago, my wife and I purchased a 75-year-old home, which we completely renovated. When I discovered that our public utility did not supply natural gas to the property, I was initially very disappointed. I™€™m considered an above-average cook and had cooked with natural gas for over 30 years. Fortunately, a friend in the appliance business introduced me to induction cooking and encouraged me to give it a try. I haven™€™t looked back since ™€" I would never return to gas. Induction cooking offers several clear advantages. It™€™s an impressive technology ™€" highly responsive, automatically shuts off when there™€™s no pan on the burner, and the sleek glass cooktop is incredibly easy to clean. Unlike gas, it doesn™€™t fill the kitchen with ambient heat, which we especially appreciate here in Florida™€™s warm climate. The temperature control is instant, thanks to the electromagnetic system ™€" a major improvement over the slow response time of older electric models. While the glass surface does get hot during use, it cools down much faster than traditional electric glass cooktops which seem to stay hot forever. Another bonus: the induction cooktop™€™s slim power unit allowed us to fully utilize the 36-inch utensil drawer in the cabinet directly beneath it, maximizing our kitchen storage. We chose Cafà appliances for their aesthetics and cutting-edge features, and we couldn™€™t be happier with our induction cooktop, electric wall oven, and refrigerator.

Worth every penny.

thb6 3/1/2025

Excellent product. This is my second GE Cafe induction product. We had a GE Cafe induction range in our previous home and loved it. When we moved, the builder's gas stove just did not hold a candle. We recently took delivery of this induction cooktop, and it is excellent. Amazing temperature control, our Made In griddle works amazingly well on the linked burners. Our All-Clad cookware just shines on the induction cooktop. The gas stove required almost 15 minutes to boil a pasta pot, and the induction is down to just under 6 minutes (and no more burnt spaghetti!). We debated a long time about the upgrade, as we also needed to have a 220V/50A line installed. That ran about $1,500 for the electrician and inspections. Now that its installed, I have no regrets. In the 1930's, the natural gas companies started a campaign "now you're cooking with gas..." after 100 years, its time to retire that... "now we're cooking with magnets!!!"

Induction is Amazing.

AimeeH 1/19/2025

We love this induction stovetop and I'm so glad we got the 36" over the 30". My roommate is a professional chef and he loves it. It heats up incredibly fast and cooks evenly.. When I boil water, the bubbles come up evenly, like perfect glass marbles. It's incredible! Make sure you have enough electricity. We got the GE washer/dryer which plugs into a normal outlet, so we were able to divert that higher line to the kitchen to accommodate the induction AND the double wall oven.

Griddles DO NOT work as intended with sync option

Moraley 1/8/2025

I love how quickly it heats up and the ease of cleaning. However, I am very disappointed in the sync option for a griddle. The two burners can be synced with temperature but they do not heat evenly across a griddle. You end up with two hot spots the size of the burners and the rest of the griddle isn™€™t hot enough to cook the food. We are left to use the larger center burner with a circle skillet but even that can™€™t be big enough for the use we want. So much for making lots of pancakes or grilled cheese at one time for the family :( Also, the touch controls are very sensitive and if you have the tiniest bit of residue or moisture on your fingers or on the surface you have to clean and dry both before you can control the temperature.

Garbage. Elements stopped working after one week.

steve37 12/26/2024

Absolutely trash. Owned the slide in range for a year and used a new purchased stainless steel set with it. Absolutely no issues. Moved and purchased the cooktop for our new home. Worked fine for 1 week, then one morning it just decided it would not longer recognize when a pan was on the element and it stopped heating. Called support, no way to reset it no troubleshooting immediately had to schedule service. Currently sitting on hold waiting.

Stove top 11/3/2024

I love this stove top. It heats quickly but doesn™€™t burn little hands when they touch it.

Carroll Way 8/7/2024

I've dinged the two end trim pieces on the top and bottom. Is it possible to replace these?

Love, Love Love it!

I LOVE this stove. I replaced my gas one (a pain to clean) with this induction cooktop. It is stunning. Yes, easy to clean. I had to get new cookware and had no issues. Make sure the cookware works with induction cooktops. All my appliances are GE appliances. I will not buy anything else. Do not be mislead about the functionality of it. I had no problems at all. The only downfall was the installers. But, not the stove.

This is my second GE Cafe induction stove top. I love it! Be careful though, I dropped a spice bottle and it hit the edge and cracked the top.

Good performing Cooktop

Freeform 4/2/2024

Pros: Great cooktop. Very responsive (see note on cons). Easy to use controls. Cons: Very tiresome to keep clean. It shows every smudge and must be washed and dried with a microfiber cloth to look good. This is very tiresome. It is attractive once cleaned. The grey color shows less smudges, I think. Some burners hum, others do not. Some of the burners take a lot longer to respond than others which also is tiresome. You cannot use as a work space to land hot items from the wall oven as I did with gas because it will dirty or scratch the surface, which is also tiresome. Having to be so careful does not seem like it is sustainable, but maybe it just takes getting use to. Other than that, it works quite well.

Burner problem right from the start.

Tom3 3/24/2024

After using the cooktop one time, one of the burners does not work. It starts up but quickly shuts off. Disappointing for a new product.

Worthwhile after the learning curve

Lisa NY 3/3/2024

Pro- Cooking time reduced by about 30%. Easy cleanup, but only microfiber cloths control streaks. Streamlined look. Con- Somewhat inconvenient not being able to use cookware that's doesn't have enough metal content to conduct the heat; re: aluminum, ceramic, glass Haven't used bridge element because not many pans that large have enough metal. Looking for a griddle to use with bridge because GE discontinued theirs. To minimize scratches & splatters you can cook with a paper towel under the pots.
